Rear Differential
My 96 F-150 just got new tires but the truck still shakes at 55 sometimes. It rumbles which sounds loud from the cab. Seems to be from the rear end maybe. Could it be the driveshaft needs a U joint, or balancing or even a rebuild? Or do I need to look at potentially redoing the rear differential? The odometer reads 212,xxx.

Those are the places to start looking. But don't forget rear wheel bearings too. In fact, if you don't know when the rear wheel bearings were replaced...with that much mileage, I'd just replace them first and go from there.

Did the place you took it to balance the tires? Unless the alignment is way off it usually will not cause shaking just premature tire wear. If they did balance the tires U joints and the rear wheel bearing are good places to start.
