4-speed manual (4th overdrive) for a 3.9
Hello all:
I'm interested in finding out if there ever was a 4-speed manual (4th being overdrive) that was produced for the 3.9l/240 CID straight six?

Not on the 240. But Ford did install the SROD and it's variants behind the 300. My van had the iron cased side shifted unit. 2nd to 3rd is a big gap.
IMO, for the effort involved, spend a little more and get a T5.
What vehicle are you going to use it in?

T5 is the 5er used in Mustangs and tons of other vehicles from Ford and GM. There are several varieties. If you are not working the truck heavily, and depending on your rear axle ratio, it could be an answer.
Links give more T5 info. The thing about it is it will bolt to your bell, although it may require an adapter. That said, your clutch setup remains the same.

Although they are talking about a Mustang, not many details change when we are talking about a truck like yours.

Note certain GM S10/15 models had a trans that will work in a Ford as well. Gotta search that one out if need be.
