From what has been posted:
Factory the AC/Heater box is bolted to the fire wall and the vents are in the dash. The controls are all in 1 unit/place.

Dealer AC the unit is under the dash and the under dash unit has the vents. Also you have heat controls in the dash and the AC controls on the under dash unit.

Well, I must have factory installed. But the 1984 Truck Shop Manual Published by Ford in September 1983 surely missed the mark. The info in this manual shows the evaporator located in the black box with the heater core. It is not in my truck. I have removed the heater core and had it flushed and pressure tested and the evap was not in there with it as the manual shows. I have to look tonight and see where it is under the dash. If anyone can provide info on this please jump in this discussion. Thanks

There are versions of dealer-added units that don't sit beneath the dash and that have in-dash vents & controls.

OP: I used to have a picture of this but no more... look at your HVAC controls in the center dash; one of them controls temperature and has got a colored horizontal band near it, blue on the left and red on the right (IIRC).

The other lever controls the vents and where air gets pushed.... with just a heater, I think that lever has only around 3 settings (as denoted by the text labels).

IIRC when that lever is all the way in the lefthand position, the text markings say OFF when it came with only a heater from the factory. Certain dealer-added units will replace that panel and it will say A/C in the extreme left-hand position, this is one way to identify dealer-added air conditioning.

It also seems that Green Sales had the last remaining NOS bracket available, I think you're gonna have to rely on junkyards, ebay and forums like this one.

I appreciate the info, I will look at it tonight. To see if it is dealer installed. I will take some pictures of the heater core box and the other AC related items and post in the morning. If I am still unsure of it. Thanks

Does this look familiar? Probably not as that shows the York/Tecumseh style compressor, and by '84 I thought all of the trucks used the round one.

I'm not sure where you got "E8TZ19D896B". I can't find that number in the master parts catalog. As shown below, and assuming that you have a 1984 w/a 300 six (you really need to tell us this stuff), you need E3TZ 19D896-A.

Is this what you are looking for?

These are for my A/C installation. Not for sale, i'm afraid.

Yes that is the ones. I have found them. They came on many different trucks from
early 80's to late 80's. Some had two different one on the compressor and some had
two of same on one compressor. I found one at Green Sales, one on ebay along with one that I did not need. At least I hope I have, should receive them all by end of week. Appreciate all the input. This is a great site with many people with much knowledge that some of us need to get our trucks restored. Thanks to all.

I was given that number by a dealer. It was wrong. I have found two of the parts I need. One of the other members is going to check his local yard for me. I hope he has more luck than I have locally. Thanks for all the help. Great membership on this site.

Yup, it is not the correct part number. But, you are right that this is a very good site.
