I need a little help. I am thinking of buying a 6.7 truck. Curious what to look for, what to stay away from, what to pay extra for etc. this will be a truck I hang onto for a long time. My current truck is a 95 7.3 with almost 300k on the odo. I hope to have the same level of reliability and longevity. I am a west coast logger so the truck will be pulling a lot, off road a lot, loaded down, oil spilled in the back, tools pounding in the back, 100 gal fuel tank etc.
Welcome to the 6.7 group !
2012 and up is where I would put my money.
Good luck shopping, come back and let us know what you found.
(with pictures of course) Lol
I would stay away from the early build 2011's. There is a date range of build dates with possible weak exhaust valves causing the engine to fail. No warranty relief on these either. Other than those, the 6.7 has been solid! The new diesel engines are much PICKIER on purity of fuel, including the 6.7. They do not like any water in them at all.

Agreed on the 2011's. Also, pre-2015 trucks do sometimes have issues with premature turbocharger failures. Ford switched from the Garrett/Honeywell GT32 to the GT37. The new turbo is a better design and the power ratings went up as a result. 400HP/800TQ on the 2011-2014 trucks and 440HP/860TQ on the 2015 and 2016 trucks.
