This is the metal band that goes around the drum at back of transfer case. I can get it re-lined ... Have the drum and attaching cables etc. I will buy entire transfer case if I have to. Please let me know. Must be F800. Years may interchange though......F750 is different. Marmon Herrington conversion on 1953 f800. Thanks.
I thought I had a nos band with lining but couldnt find it. I think its in the storage shed. But dont recall if its Part number is 1543647. 2.5" width. 7&5/8" approx.diameter.
Which i believe fits a normal f6 or f600?
If i remember correctly i think it was a match for my 53 c600 MH?
Ill look around the parts shed again, i just remember that when I was initially looking at it it looked way bigger than what the f2 f3 trucks had? I think there were two different sizes from f2 f3 to f4 ,5,&6 ?
I would think a phone call to Chuck would solve your search?
Josh - Mark's truck is model QH, and if it's fitted with standard 2wd pieces needs part TGAA 2648-C. He and I discussed it. Parts Voice found him an F-750 band, but it's a different number.
And Mark, assuming M-H moved the stock 2wd drum and band from the transmission to the transfer case, you won't need to buy it from another M-H. You said you intended to compare the F-800 band to one on another of your trucks, so sounds like you confirmed they are different. You had already checked with Chuck when we talked. I believe it's down to sourcing from a donor 1953/1954 F-800 (QH), F-900 (QHS), C-800 (QHW), C-900 (QSW) except tandem axle model, or a 1954 F/T/B-700/750 (Model Q) with tandem axle. Stu
Are you looking for the steel band? or just lining or both? Steel is elementary to
fab up. As far as lining, back in the day we used flat belting as in saw mill hay bailers
I think tractor supply carries it. Either rivited or contact cemented. Back then drivers
were always smoking up e brakes on school buses where I worked. Then I thought
flat belt cotton lining is use for the main primary brake on a Model T' so why not for
a E brake. Now many people are using wood for linings and swear by it. The E brake
on the Model T has no lining its metal to metal. I don't like that so I boiled 1/4 inch
wood in a pot C clamped that to the shoe when dried I contact cemented the wood
and now as I speak my e brake works perfectly just a thought. A picture will help
us but I'll take a pic of my brake I'll bet Marmon just used the brake from the main
trans and stuck it on their transfer case.Thats what mine looks like (Clark 5sp)
I'll get back sam
Big Job - the issue here is that the band is missing. Drum intact, no band. This is to go on a museum quality resto, so finding the right piece is the goal. As I think on this, I wandered through a southern Illinois yard last week that was mostly big trucks. Wouldn't be surprised if there is a 53/54 F-800 there. Stu
Ok I got it. I think we now need to know if this is the same used on the main trans.
If so I got one, F800-900 same deal as most had 5sp Clarks unless somebody or Marmon changed it (the trans.) I have seen some with 5sp Spicers also..sam
It was on my avitar 53 F900 Clark 5sp Od so I don't need it cause it has Bendex spring cans..
The Big Job chassis catalog doesn't differentiate by which transmission is in the truck. Same emergency brake for all within the model grouping. So hopefully you're a hero and all M-H did was to relocate it to the transfer case. That's what they did on my smaller model. Stu
Also. We have a 2 wheel drive f800. Mark says Ebrake went back to wheel drum on axle. No help there. Any thoughts? Still stuck. Appreciate all the help and advice.
Is this 2wd the same era truck? Nothing I saw in the Chassis Catalog for your 53 shows the emergency brake located at the axle.
This 2wd mention is a separate issue from the 53 F-800 M-H, am I correct? Assuming yes, does the above offer from "big job" not solve that original problem? Stu
Did you find what you needed?
Finally got to digging into the mess.
Band is 3" width. Approx 9.5" diameter opening. ?
Does this look familiar?
I have no idea what this goes to. No part numbers on it that i could see. The box it was in is pretty shot.
My friend had given that to me when he was cleaning out his storage building thinking it might fit my 53 c600. But as we found out its WAY to big for that.
So i'll just get it sent off to you, I'll pm you for the addresse. if you can cover shipping id be happy just to see that it found a home.
Cheers
Josh
