Rear Axle Shaft Grove

HI,

Around 55,000 miles ago my rear axle seal leaked cause my rear bearing to go out and rub a grove in my axle,'m not sure if it was the left or right rear. So i changed the bearing seal and axle shaft. Well, around a week ago I noticed fluid leaking out of the right rear. Today I was able to get the axle shaft pulled and found that it has a grove rubbed in it. The bearing doesn't look bad but I'll change it anyway.
1. Is there any markings on the axle shaft, seal or bearing that'll tell me that this is the same side that went out last time. I haven't located anything on the shaft yet but I haven't pressure washed it either.
2. Would a aftermarket shaft wear that quickly? I'm thinking either it was a crappy after market axle or maybe there's something wrong with the housing.
The rear end is a 8.8 with 3.55 gears

hard to tell if it was a used axle and then worn more for 55K miles...... a lot of axles have the seal wear groove. If you check the local parts store you will find out that they sell a "repair kit" which is an off set bearing with the seal built into the part.. The bearing moves over something like 1/4 inch to run on another part of the shaft, and the seal rubs in a new location.......... this extends the life of an " old shaft".

Yea, I had used a "repair bearing". The last time I had this problem. Well first I brought it to a machine shop and had the shaft welded up and turned back down. That lasted for about 2 months before the shaft was eaten back down so the next time I used the axle saver bearing is what I believe they called it. It lasted close to a year. So after that I replaced the axle shaft, beating and seal. The first time it had a little over an 1/8" of wear in the shaft. This time it's around a 1/16". But it has ruined the seal. I have both out just trying to decide if I'll go with a new shaft, bearin and seal or buy a whole rear end from an auto salvage.
