Got a good offer on my old truck?
To sale or not to sale now?
My current ride is in my signature below and have a firm offer of 30K for it, should I let it go in hopes of getting my truck early? I have a car to drive for now but being without my truck for 3 months is kind of scary!
Order - 5/23
Vin - 17275
Build Date - 8/8
Delivery date - ??????

I'd say that's a reasonable price. How many miles are on your '11? I have a '15 F150 XLT Sport FX4 5.0 with 6200 miles that I got for $37k on xplan + rebates and they are offering me $31500 for it with about $2500 in damage from hitting a deer and I feel that I'm not losing out too badly in the trade to the new '17 Super Duty. I came from a '10 F350 6.4 that was deleted and tuned so I'm really feeling the loss of power and payload. I'm patiently waiting for my dealer to either get another SD allotted to them to order or if they can change the last one they ordered before a VIN is assigned.

In many states (including here in MO), the sale by an individual can be taken off before taxes as well, provided it is within 6 months of purchasing the new vehicle. Just gotta have that bill of sale to be on the safe side.

Find out about the taxes. In PA it's 6%, so if you got $28k from dealer that would be equal to 29680, NY has some funny taxes. IMO if you could get $28k and the tax break it'd be worth not having to deal with the hassle, unless you friend just really wants the thing. If you want to go that route, nothing wrong with just telling the dealership that you have a private offer, but you'll give them the chance to buy it at $29k and see what they say. I would be surprised if they held back $4k, but every dealership is different in how they make offers. They may well pass, but from my experience, nice late model trucks we can CPO cost a pretty penny at the auction. You have control of this one, if they want it, let them have the opportunity to buy it, if they don't, well you have a good out.
