2003 Navigator Ac compressor 1 navigator owner 0
So I need to replace the Ac compressor on my navigator, rear seal is gone. The navigator has AWD so the compressor will not fit between the rack and pinion and the front axle and it doesn't want to come out between the radiator and the front crossmember either. What am I missing? Do you just force it past the radiator and crossmember? Do you drop the rack/pinion? Or is there another option? All the info I read just says out the bottom.

Step 1 of the factory service manual says:
