I have a 2005 F250, 4.2 litre diesel. It was imported by Ford Motor Co into SA. These came from Brazil , I think.
I have a question on my auto lock hubs. When I drive on uneven surfaces I hear a rattling/ shaking sound coming from the left front hub. I removed the circlip and pulled out the 4x4 hub. Its seems the rattle is coming from inside this hub as I shake it. DO I just pack it with grease?
Sounds like you are talking about the "hub lock selector". I am not sure if the trucks made in Brazil are the same as mine or what year Ford would have gone to the newer style hubs at the Brazil assembly plant. They changed here in 2005. That said, they don't rattle on my 01, built in Louisville, KY, for the American market.
I would not pack them with grease as it will interfere with the vacuum operation of the hub. First determine which style hub you have, then try searching for "hub lock" maintenance and repair on this forum, the Excursion forum and in the Tech Folder. By the way, the F-150's have a totally different system so information for that system won't help you much.
