Steering box question

How much play is normal in a steering box? Should I be able to grab the steering shaft from under the hood and twist it back and forth a half inch or so in either direction with the engine not running or would this be considered excessive play in the steering box?

Here is a link to a video of a guy with the same problem. This is not my video but looks exactly like mine. Does that seem normal?

Mine does the exact same thing. Im all over the road. I am guessing it is bad. I'm banking on it.. but before i spend any money will someone with a good tight box do this test on their truck?

if you can do that movement and the pitman arm does not move, then you need to adjust the steering box. if adjusting don't fix it, steering box needs rebuilding

Problem is if you alter the adjustment on red head box at all they completely void their warranty... I do find it funny they warranty an adjustable box, unless you adjust it....

That being said I just put one on a 2000 EX for my wife....
