So I went to swap my current tires which are 31's over to my freshly painted 87 15x8 f150 rims and dang if I can't win for losing!! the truck sat for nearly 8 years and the tires roll like eggs on the balancer.......so looks like I'm getting new tires now!!! I'd like 33 x 12.50 x 15's.....question is will 33's fit under my truck with no suspension lift? the 31's had plenty of room iirc.......anyone have any insight.....gonna order tires asap if I can figure that out.
I dunno if my truck was stock, but I had a half ton 78 that came to me with 33's but they were the wide ones, 13" or so Iirc, and they rubbed the radius arms and the fender at full lock, and they were a little hard to turn. Tended to make the belt squeal to turn at a stop. Narrower ones would probably fit better.
33x12.5R15 on my 75. Rims are 15x8. Couldn't rub them even if I wanted to. You are asking about an 87 though. Might be better to ask folks with that body style.

These trucks are so old it's hard to tell what's stock and what's not and it depends on how they were used. They all sit at a different height just depending on how worn out they are. But if the 33's rub it won't be much work or money to put some leveling coils up front and have it fixed.
