Ive got a 79 Bronco and latley noticed that theres a intermittent loud "clicking" noise while driving. It's really apparent when driving alongside a wall or building with teh noise being reflected back. I was doing some checking earlier today and I think I found the problem and it looks like my Rt front hub. There is some slop between the lockout and the hub that doesnt exist on the Lt side so i figgure that it's my problem even though i cant dup it inthe garage.
Seeing as how the truck as 200k (ok 199504.6) on it I figure it's about time to rework the front hubs & axle shafts, somthing ive never had the opportunity to do. Is the axle shaft U-Joint a replaceable item or msut I replace teh whole axle shaft? Ideally I was looking at replaceing the u-joint, axle spindle bearing, seals, and manual lockouts. The front bearings should be ok still as they were done not too many kmile ago.
Any other tips or tricks to look out for? It's a stock front end so im assuming it's a dana 44.
