Alright guy's, so I decided to buck down and work on a build thread much like most people here do. I have a few photos to post up but between my work schedule and working on truck plus wife and four kids I'm going to be limited by funds and time. However; I recently gave off my 2005 F350 6.0 to the wife to use while I work on my new truck.
New to me is 1994 F350 CC LB 7.5L truck. Not 4x4 but future plans and I say future because it may happen or may not depending on money and time and whether or not I really do it. Also, future is Cummins swap build which I would prefer to do now instead of 4x4. We shall see the 7.5L from what you all say is a great motor and I don't need to worry about. Which I'm not by the way I just love Diesel!
Having delivering to my house what a truck, I love it, its old but she is mine and I don't pay payments!!!! Body condition and under carriage she is immaculate, only thing is the previous owner neglected her so she is in good hands now. At 177k miles I got my work cut out for me making sure she is up to speed on maintenance.
Check out photos in the meantime I will try to add some captions to my photos to explain some things I discovered.
Enjoy and let me know what you guy's think...By the way she is California truck and I got her basically for nothing...
Her face and well some new headlight housings to come I like the bonus fog lights in the grille. They do work, grille is also needing of replaced apparently it has seen better days and falling apart so that is something to consider once all my mechanical stuff is out of the way.
Changed oil and filter today what the heck is this stupid filter doing on here??? I sourced her a Motorcraft filter that way she can be back to what she knows and likes best!
After clean fresh oil I took old and put back in the jug to verify how much oil was left. Either some old still left in truck or she was low, this is just over 4qt and we all know she is in need of 6qts. Driving her and running it at idle I know she does not burn oil maybe some minor leaks but we shall see how bad now.
No back seat and I think front is not original but I will find out soon enough...not sure on the white stuff caked into the floor but I have vaccum up now and new carpet on order.
Honestly she could maybe use a new filter but I cleaned it up real good and oil it the best I can do for now. This is the before photo I will need to take another showing cleaned and oil but I think you get the idea.
Sorry picture heavy and large photos, my future plans are replacing the side mirrors you may not be able to tell but both are held up with duct tape Ugly but just ordered some on Ebay for $48 free shipping and they are powered. Not bad I don't think we shall see how they fit by friday.
Next up is tires all the way around, I did find that the spare tire is still intact and I think original full of air. Looks brand new or at least tread depth is new but old tire.
Another odd thing was the Spark plug wires had stamped on them 1994 I will have to take a photo but sure seems those are original>????? WOW if they are I hope they changed plugs but if not those will be replaced this week too.
For now that is all that I can think that I got done this weekend, I love this truck and love driving her. She is not my 2005 F350 but that is okay it will be a fun project to bring her back to life.
Plug wires are more than likely original. My late '97 (12/97) has 1998 wires (only 65K though). Looks like a good start; no payments is a really nice thing too.

Yes I was thinking a truck of this age and 177k miles wouldn't be original wires. Guess it's not typical for them to go bad just plugs change and perhaps cap and rotor. Honestly the entire distributor might be original too ill have to check into that.
So as you can see from my photos my headlight housing are in some need of restoration or just complete replacement. I did use the toothpaste trick to get some yellowish and grime off which helped but now I'm thinking of just ditching them and going with brand new setup.
In all your experiences of those who have switched out what seems to be the best quality for your buck! In terms of price, quality, lighting output, etc. I have HID in my 2005 but wasn't sure on doing this with this truck. Perhaps I could just buy new clear lenses and then install cheaper HID bulbs plug and play. What's your thoughts and all opinions apprieciated?
