Guys, Ive searched the forum and hopefully Im not starting a new thread un-necessarily...
The DEF low caution is on and counting down the miles to go but the DEF tank is full. The caution goes away for a start or two then comes back. She's a 2015 F250 with the 6.7L. I love this truck but its starting to really bug me. I don't know if its related but she's been in the shop four times for warranty repairs to the wiring harness in the past couple months. Apparently there were loose connections in a couple of cannon plugs that the've now bypassed which were causing loss of communication between computers...
Has anyone else seen this or have any ideas before I call the dealer... again. Thanks guys.
If you know its full and getting the message I would take it in. However, is it freezing where you are and have you been driving it long enough, when you do drive, for the DEF to thaw?

I'd go ahead and get this into the hands of your dealer, Sproocket, especially since the warning keeps coming back. How many miles are on your truck currently?
+12F DEF freezes are thereabouts. There is a DEF heater and depending on your outside ambient temp. it doesn't take long to thaw out to be able to be used. Even though my truck is outside and the DEF routinely freezes I still use it at about the rate of 1 gal per 1000 miles - even in the winter in Alaska....
To the OP - Take it to the dealer. You are under warranty. That countdown will leave you on the side of the road if you ignore it. Just me humble opinion. The worrying to me part would be the prior issues you have - it sounding like the computers may not be talking to each other in regards to DEF level....

Your right! Thought that the minus was too low! Thanks for correcting me!
No problem. I wish it was -12F. Then it wouldn't freeze as often. I get worried about filling the DEF tank in the winter because I don't want it to expand and break the tank... Even WITH using the special fill nozzle what is supposed to prevent that.
Seeing as I have had my water bottle freeze pretty quick while doing things outside, I can only imagine pouring def in and having it freeze before I could get it in the truck. It would almost be funny, if it wasn't something that wouldn't strand you. I don't have a heated garage big enough for the truck to fit in.
Luckily, so far for me over the past 5 1/2 years I have had a 6.7 filling DEF hasn't been an issue. Going on winter #2 in Alaska.
My 16 350 srw just started doing this as well. However, I only get this warning message when it is just below freezing. On Monday morning it was 29*f and the message counted down for over an hour of driving. Then the tank read full for two days. My guess is the lowest level sensor failure or connection. My 11' never did this. I will take it in. But what a hassle. I need the truck daily. I only have 4600 miles on the 16.
Does anyone know what kind of element is in the def tank? Must be quite the draw of power to thaw out that amount of def in this climate. We hit -45*C on the wknd, fuel economy wasn't great but oh my my that heated steering wheel

I just ordered a new reservoir assembly to fix my DEF heater issue. During my research, I read somewhere it is supposed to be 1-2 ohms. At 13.5V and 1.5 ohms, that's about 120 watts.
