Size of fuel tank

The build sheet on my truck says it's got a 26 gallon tank. But I'm still working on running out my first tank and the display shows that I've burned 27 gallons and the needle is on 1/4 tank mark. What's the deal with that? Is the display inaccurate or was there an optional tank size?

Optional 36 gallon tank so if you had that tank 27 would make some sense for 1/4

If you have the tow package, it comes with a 36 gallon tank as others have mentioned. I find the Miles to E and gauge to be very accurate.

Thanks guys. The dealership filled the tank up for me as part of the deal so I have not put any gas into the truck myself yet. The truck does have the heavy duty trailering package with the integrated brake controller on the dash so maybe it does have the 36 gallon tank. I guess it's going to take a lot of money to fill this thing up.

You are very fortunate indeed. The 36 gallon tank is a must on my next truck.

Probably the main reason I got 4X4.
It is an option on the 2015 and up 2 wheel drives.

When I was looking in '13, it was the 4X4's that had the 36 gallon tank.
Do you have the 7200lb GVWR and/or 3:55 rear?

I believe I have the 3.55 rear. Not sure about the 7200b GVWR. I have the standard tow package. Not the max tow package.

My build sheet lists the "heavy duty trailering" package. And I do have 3.55 gears. Were the 3.55s not standard? I can't imagine a numerically lower ratio in a full size truck.

Park that 1/4 tank left on a 36 gallon on an incline and it might not start....pick up in rear. Trust me on this... Also never got more than 33 in it. Miles to empty and gauge accurate, the gallons used on trip meter, not always right.

For the most part...

Trucks with 18" wheels have 3:31
Trucks with 20" wheels have 3:55

Max Tows have 3:73
