Whistling when heating/AC fan is on high

Hi everyone,

I recently purchased a used 2014 F150 XLT, it has 18k miles. I found that when I turn the AC or heat fan is on high there is a loud whistling noise. However, I discovered that when the recirculate function is on the whistling stops. I took the truck to a Ford dealer since it's under warranty and they have replaced the blower motor twice but that hasn't fixed it. I can't help but think that the air intake to the vent system might be obstructed, that would explain why it doesn't whistle when recirculate is on. Has anyone else had an issue like this or know where they intake for the vent is?

Thanks in advance for your help!

sounds like one of the blend doors is causing the air to whistle past it.

Welcome to the forum, CtrlFreek. Let's get this escalated to your regional customer service manager. Since you're a new member, you may not have access to PMs yet. If that's the case, send an email to custserv@ford.com with your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, current mileage, and servicing dealership. This email address isn't monitored, so put my name ("Crystal") in the subject line and post here once you've sent it. That's how I'll know to go and look for your message.

I have had this same problem as well. We took out the fan, cleaned it, sprayed where it was whistling, solved the problem. No need to have motor replaced
