Just curious if anyone has had to remove a head bolt to be able to get an injector out. Of course it was the last one I pulled before it was too dark to see. Passenger front by the way.
That's what I thought too. Only had to pull one head bolt and loosen rocker arm bolts to have enough room to get it out otherwise it was jammed in place. The injector hold down bolt wouldn't even come out.
pretty sure you shouldn't have to remove any head bolts, and if you did, remember the stock head bolts are 1 time use tty head bolts if you removed it you need to replace it.
Arp head studs. I should be good with just removing the one. With the hold down bolt all the way out the injector was jammed against the rockers. I keep finding stuff loose or over torqued that a former ford diesel specialist should have done properly. I even found a missing valve cover bolt. No telling what else I'm gonna find as I keep going.
You could've barred over the engine and it would've moved the rocker allowing the clamp and injector to be removed. In my world,,, if a bolt gets loosened,, that head gasket is compromised. Most don't live in my world. Lol
Normally I would change it but it was recently done before I bought the truck. I didn't think of doing that. It was getting no dark and starting to rain so trying to hurry.
Another guestion on the stand pipes. Is the rubber part at the top a seal of sorts into the head? I see one is torn in mine. 03 motor by the way. Also one is bent but I did that and is it reusable? New to the diesel scene.

Not sure I follow what you mean by a rubber part at the top. Are you talking where the braided hose connects to the stand pipe? There is a plastic looking thing that is part of the snap fitting if I recall. I don't think that affects the sealing, since that is done internally and if I remember right it's a metal flared fitting with internal o-ring(s)
The check valve, that 90 degree section you see that attaches to the oil rail, also has that plastic looking piece, I think it covers the hidden ring clip.
There are tools to release the fitting, I just grabbed a bunch of die grinder wheel wrenches and used the one that fit

Haha I did the same thing with the die grinder wrenches. As far as the piece I'm talking about it sits below where the line clips on and in the head a little bit.
