I just received this letter yesterday as well. I almost threw it out because I thought it was another letter about the cruise control circuit on my 7.3L.
It doesn't read like a "bring it in and we'll fix it letter" at first glance. Could this be a precursor to a recall??
I read it the same way. The wobble is caused by the owner due to modifications or improper, poor, or lack of maintenance.
Used to feel that way when i first got this letter until the "death wobble" showed up one day. After 3 steering gears in 135k miles its gone for now, and my truck is pretty much stock. Personally, i think the steering on these trucks sucks. Its a poor design. My dads old truck, a 2002 with roughly the same miles as mine drives like its new. No slop at all, it is a 2wd though so maybe thats the difference. Anyone know if or when the steering system design was changed anywhere along the line?
IMO, it can be fixed with a good set of shocks. The shocks that come on these trucks are poor at best and do a lousy job of dampening the suspension.
I bought my 2006 fx4 f250 brand new and had the death wobble with 2,000 miles on the truck. Rancho shocks junk?
I received that letter twice.
After that I always keep my tire pressure at 75lbs.
