I grew up on a farm with several Ford trucks. Two of my favorites were a 53 and a 56 F100. Both of these spent 80% of the time off road doing all sorts of farm duty. Both had rear step bumpers.
One of the reasons I chose a 56 F100 for a project is that it came out the year I was born and my memories of the one we had on the farm.
I am seriously considering building, (because I can't find one) a rear step bumper for it. Sort of a form follows function in a street rod truck sort of way.
Any of you forum readers out there have a step bumper on yours?
I have attached a photo of one I found on a truck for sale on ebay a while back.
