I am at the point where I need to figure out the access cover seal to transmission and shift boot. I had a t-9 and I am now going with a top loader 3speed. My truck was missing the shifter boot when I got it so I don't know if the boot sits directly on the metal access cover (no screws). And the floor mat gets trimmed around the boot? I can't imagine the boot going over the mat unless I am missing a trim ring or something.
Also my t9 had a metal plate that sat on top of the shift tower that held the bottom of the thick gasket sealing to the access cover. Is the 3 speed a different plate? Is it necessary?
Anyone have pictures of original install they can share with me?
