2011 F-350 6.7L Started the engine, pulled the lever from PARK, nothing happened. "P" lights up, but none of R N D M etc. light. Interlock works i.e. Foot brake must be pressed before lever will move. 'Tow Haul' light comes on when button is pressed. I can feel the lever as it moves through the detentes for each position, but the transmission does not react in any way. Help!
Never experienced this type of problem before. Hope it is something simple. Have you experienced any transmission problems before this? Have you checked the trans fluid level?
Thanks for the suggestions. Everything functioning normally up to this point. I'm going to try fuses and other suggestions before calling ERS. Will advise results.
I assume that there is no direct mechanical connection between the transmission and the lever we use to shift out of park?
So, the issue has to be a communication error in the circuit between the shifter and the control module, or the module to the transmission?
If you have to get it towed the drive shaft comes out in 10 minutes. I think it's a 13mm socket and 4 bolts on the input shaft at the rear differential. Undo the bolts and slide the shaft back out of the slip joint.
Be dang sure to chock the wheels, truck will be free, only way to stop it is with the parking brake set and whatever pressure is available in the foot brake.

Hi blueheron,
Here's a helping hand if you need one; Send me a private message with your VIN, phone number, and dealer info. I'll see what can be done to help.

Hum....now I want to know. I was thinking it was a hardware connection.

I'm assuming that the "P" light turns off and on when shifting out of park. The control signal that turns that light on is indepedent of the R N D M and comes from the Brake Shift Interlock module directly to the instrument panel (Dash).
I'm guessingI don't have the information with me right now but I believe that the RNDM indicator lights are a signal from the PCM to the dash via the CAN BUS. I can monitor the Shift Selector Position and what gear the transmission is in on a monitor from PIDs from the PCM.
This might not be much help but simply the PCM shifts the transmission so either the shift selector switch in not sending a signal to the PCM, or the PCM is not sending the signal to the transmission to shift?
One of the guys on here had a similar problem with a 6.4 and I've heard of one case of it on a 6.7. A bad processor in the transmission was the cause. If I remember correctly the part was just under $200.
Well, I also assumed that it would be an electronic problem. We all know about assume! Turned out that a white nylon (?) bushing on one end of the shifter cable had worn and allowed the cable to separate from its connection. Part was about $45.00 CAN & 1.5 hrs of labour. Part number is DC3Z-7E395A. BTW truck is almost exactly five years old and has gone 83,000 miles.
Thanks for all the suggestions and offers of help. I really appreciate the members of this forum.
