Seals on front axle knuckle

I have a f-250 , 2007 4X4 , 6.0. I did a front pad break job today and noticed the "seals" on the knuckle just behind the rotor is just hanging there. Is this something to worry about ....... It's my everyday driver never sees water up to there etc. Not a mud toy etc.

Seals on front axle knuckle

That seal usually tears. There is an updated version that pounds into the axle tube rather than pressing onto the axle shaft.

You can replace the seal but you have to replace the knuckle seal at the same time.

I would wait until you need to do ball joints. It isn't worth tearing it down just for the dust seal.

I think you should do absolutely nothing until it all gets torn apart for ball joints. It will be fine the way it is now. Tons of trucks out there like that.

as said, that is just dust seal and nothing to worry about. i usually take them out and toss them when i have the axle apart. makes it easier to see when the inner axle seal starts leaking.

Really?, we ha e enough dust here , to ruin anything on the inside of that seal.

Personally, I would put a film of silicone on the seal, and drive it into place.
They are there for a reason!
