black smoke under heavy acceleration?
this is for my 1978 f100 with a swapped in 86 351w HO. Has a 4 barrel carb stock form the factory. I am getting heavy black smoke when I kick the 4 barrel in, and somnetimes the motor stumbles until I let up a little and the rpms's get up. There is no smoke at idle would the float level to high cause this, and how hard is that to adjust? thanks for the help, Ben

It sounds like the secondaries are kicking in too soon. You may want to try a heavier spring for the secondaries, as well as checking the float bowl levels.
