2003 Ford Expedition Transmission OD problem

Need help! I have a 2003 Expedition and it is shifting into OD at higher rpm or only after I let off the petal slightly. The local trans shop says I need a rebuild but I hate to put that kind of $$$ in it with high mileage. Is there anything I can do to prolong the transmission life? I am still driving it and the other gears seem fine? Anything I can check or do other than rebuilding trans?

Try a bottle of Lucas Transmission Fix. It's pretty much the only additive I ever recommend.

I used in in my Mustang and it cleared up all of the shuddering issues. Someone here in the past month or so used it because of some shifting issues and it solved the problem they were having.
