Been changing the oil on my 2000 Expedition for over 12 years now, but can't get the current oil filter off to save my life. I tried the strap and aluminum cup, but both to no avail. Short of using the dreaded screw driver, any suggustions. And please don't recommand an oil shop.
Thank you
i've had to use my 24" pipe wrench a few times to get a filter that was being uber stubborn.
not sure if there is room under your expedition, though. i know it wouldn't work on mine (or i would have tried it for the first oil change since it was on waaaay too tight).
could you get the cup on there and get on it with an impact gun?
maybe the cup in conjunction with a strap wrench?
i've been there, just never with a filter i've put on. spin it on till it touches, then 3/4 of a turn ... that's it (and this problem is why ... plus that's what the instructions say to do).
I see grip type filters over tight often . I also see unlubed gaskets cause this issue, as well as over extend oil changes . A good finger grip wrench should get it loose .
