Truck won't start when hot or when it has been started, then re-started. (sometimes)
I am having a problem with my 1997 F150 and the dealer can't seem to figure out the problem. This is very irritating. They are telling me if it doesn't show up on the diagnostics, or act up when they have the vehicle, they cannot fix it.
Here is an example of my problem:
Over the weekend I went about 10 miles to the store.
Spent about 30 minutes in store.
Came out Truck started.
Drove 2 blocks to get ice cream, turned off engine.
Ate Ice cream (mabye 10 minutes)
Started vehicle, would not start. Seemed to be flooded, but not sure.
Tried a few minutes later, would not start.
Tried about 30 minutes later, would not start.
Tried every 20 minutes or so. Finally started about 1.5 hours later.
This has happened on several occasions; however, vehicle usually starts after a few minutes of letting it sit. This time, it really had me scared, so I took it to the dealer.
Dealer claims fuel pressure is normal.
What else could be wrong? Vapor Lock? Ignition? Maybe something is getting hot? A short somewhere?
HELP! I"m afriad if the dealer doesn't fix, I will be out $85 and my truck will eventually break down and leave me stranded.
Thank You

Have the dealer check the relays for the fuel pump and EEC. Years ago a relay on my truck would click as it should, but turned out to be faulty. The truck would not start. New relays are around $10 to $15.
Another thought is to check the electrical connections, especially the connections to the fuel pump. I recall reading a post in this forum about a poor connection causing an intermitten problem such as yours.
