Alright after finally putting the 460 in ny poor half ton im ready to yank it out. I have an efi 300 6 and mazdog tranny sitting behind the house that i thought would be a perfect swap. Anybody done this? The truck was originally 302 aod with fi then i converted it to the carbed 460. I want it to br a daily driver and prefer a standard.

Same routine as putting in the 460. But you will need new frame motor mount perches to mount the 6. You will have to go to the junkyard to get them.
Different radiator, hoses, throttle cable, etc. I would convert the six to carb to make the wiring easier, but that's me. If you don't have the efi wiring and computer you will need that and the diagrams to make it all work with the efi.
Pedal assembly won't fit, you need one from a 84-86 truck.
You will need to grind/drill the perches off the frame. Just making sure you realize these are not "motor mounts" but brackets on the frame. Some may be bolted on, some riveted.
What's wrong with the 96? It may be easier to use that if you want to keep the efi.
P.S. 96 won't have a spot for a speedo cable. If you have 4x4, you can use your old transfer case for the speedometer. Otherwise, you have a problem if you are 2wd.

A carb won't help the speedometer problem. Around 1993 or so Ford went to a electronic speedo that gets a signal from the vehicle speed sensor.
You may want to do some web searching, if you have a 2wd there might be a possibility of getting the back half of a older M5OD and the proper speedo drive gear and swapping it onto your later tranny. I am not sure on this so check first.
