Will replacing my coil springs and leaf springs give me a smoother ride?

Too many variables to tell. Not being smart, but are yours original? Worn out? Replacing with OEM or after market. Standard or HD?

This is actually a very interesting question. I am curious to hear suggestions as well.

Is it better to put oem on or are there better options for 2wd road driving?

Springs will just change the ride height, especially the coil springs. Look at the leaf springs at their tips where they rub the spring above them. If there is a very pronounced ridge in the upper spring from the tip of the spring below it, you might get some ride improvement.

These trucks from the factory ride very smooth and nice. The hated independent ttb is what gives you the ride, along with the rear progressive spring pack. What happens most of the time is someone beefs up the rear springs and that ruins the ride. Most trucks have 2 or 3 thin curved leaves on top, and a very thick flat lower leaf to haul weight. The thin upper leaves give you a nice ride. People go in and beef up the upper curved leaves so it won't squat with a load, and that makes it ride rough and bounce all over the place.

Unless you have a specific reason not to, I would use stock replacements to avoid alignment/geometry problems.

I replaced my coil springs about a year ago & the ride did soften slightly; but more noticeable was the improvement in the steering because the wheels stood vertical again (kingpin I-beams)
