hi I am new here and have been loking around the forums for a while and cant seem to find a good answer to my question.
I have a 94 f350 and am wanting to lift to fit a 38in tire. i was going to go with the ski jacker 6in lift and a procomp 16x10 or a 16x12 wheel and nitto mud grapplers 38/14.50x16 but am not really sure if i can fit that tall or wide of a tire. i would like to stay away from body lifts if possible.
I have seen many obs trucks with 8in lift and 37sbut no 38s. just wanting to be absolutly positive befor i spend big bucks in tires that may not fit.
i have 37X12.5X16.5's on my 88 with 4 inch lift and homemade front bumper. i think 14.5 tires are going to be too wide for a leaf spring truck. my 12.5 tires will just barely rub on full lock turns.
With an 6" lift, you are going to be able to fit pretty much whatever tire you want if you are willing to do a little trimming on your bumper or space it out. All of my F250's have run 35's at stock height. I plan on 37's on my 96 F350, it has a Warn winch bumper on the front, which leaves much more space than stock. It will get a RSK and S/D springs, only for ride and not for tire clearance, the added height will only be a side effect.
Having them clear the leaves at full lock is going to depend entirely on offset.
On my wheeling rig I run my 44's on old school slot mags with a 4.75" backspacing, and 1.5" wheel spacers, I have lug contact with the springs at full lock, but it is not horrible. On a truck with some actual lift(I run S/D springs with a shackle reversal, roughly 2.25" above a stock F350) the arched spring will be more forgiving.
I suggest looking at a super duty spring swap and reverse shackle kit with PMF's kit or similar rather than a bolt on lift kit for your truck, your kidneys will thank you.
I LIKE THE IDEA OF A BETER RIDE AND IT SEAMS LIKE IT WOULD SAVE MONEY OVER A SKY JACKER. HOW MUCH LIFT DOES JUST THE SUPER DUTY SPRING PROVIDE SO I CAN DECIDE WHAT SIZE RSK I NEED.
