2012 F350 spare tire
I want to replace my steel spare wheel with the same aluminum wheel the truck has. I want to do a 5 tire rotation instead of letting the spare sit there wasting away. Is there a TPMS module in the spare or can it be added? What's the downside to doing this?
thanks

There is no TPMS in the spare. You would have to buy the matching alloy rim and a new TPMS sensor.
The downside? The cost, and the fact that the location of the spare allows the rim to get eaten away by dirt, mud, salt, snow, whatever. Even though the alloy "face" is up, we always find dirt and salt get on top and rust the outward face of the rim from the top down.
I'd just stick to your steel spare.

Thanks for the reply. I don't have much trouble with the spare wheel rotting away from conditions. The tire shop had an inflated price on the sensor so for now I'll have a real spare wheel and do the 5 tire rotation. When these tires need replacement, I'll reconsider the steel spare.
