Power Stop KC1906A-36 One Click Brake Kit

Has anyone installed the Power Stop Extreme KC1906A-36 brake kit (powder coated calipers, extreme pads, slot/drilled rotors) on their Ex?

I recently got the Crown Performance 5 piece Braided SS brake line kit and want to upgrade the rest of the braking system at the same time.

If no one has experience with this exact kit but has used some of their other products, please let me know your thoughts on their quality and performance.

I am almost certain that the Power Stop kit you are looking at is sold on eBay under the Callahan name. You may want to compare photos to double check. If true, this could save you some money.

The reason I say this is that I put the Callahan rotors and pads on my Ex a couple of months ago and love them. I noticed at the time that the pads had Power Stop printed on the back. I didn't think much of it at the time, thinking maybe it was just the model of the pads and I was in a hurry. I have since put the same Callahan rotors/pads kit on three different vehicles (two Mercedes' and a Lexus) and all of them had the Power Stop print on the back with a part number. I have not cross referenced the number or looked them up, but I believe they are Power Stop brand.

If they are the same, I love mine. They all fit perfectly, are quiet, and stop the truck VERY well. I have no comments on dusting since my wheels are black and every time I drive it they get covered in water, mud, and dust, so I would never be able to tell. I drove one of the Mercedes for about 300 miles of mixed highway and downtown Boston driving (many quick stops) and was just as impressed with them on that car as I was my truck. So far, I don't have enough miles to give a long term review or comment on longevity, but I like them.

Keep in mind that the calipers are not an upgrade. Just a replacement. If yours aren't sticking, I would keep them. The pads will make the most difference in stopping power.

I'm planning on installing these on my truck when my brakes wear out, but of course, now there's a rebate on them forcing me to buy them sooner.

I'll look into this Callahan business myself, but could you provide a link?

I had the same setup on my F250 half cab long box on 40's, they made a BIG difference in stopping power on that thing. Considering the massive amount of rotational weight the 40's had, I imagine they'll drag the X down from speed quite well. No comments on brake dust or anything of that nature since the rig was offroad every weekend and cleaned by rain.

The powerstop calipers on my Excursion were a gift but were clearly stamped with the FORD logo. They were brand new and work great. After close inspection it's only the metal casting that is OEM Ford. Everything else looks to have been replaced by Powerstop.

Those were the ones I bought. They were $117.50 when I bought them. I don't if it is a price increase or if I happened to get them on sale or something.

They sell the kit with the refurbished red calipers too but I didn't need calipers at the time.

Amazon also has the 2 axle kit with a $70 rebate, $642 after rebate. A little more than Rock Auto, but no hassle with core returns. The shipping kills Rock Auto, too bad you can't pick their parts up at a warehouse.

I pulled the trigger on the Power Stop KC1906A-36 kit. I found it on eBay for about $670, free shipping.

I will more than likely have a brake shop install these for me since I also have the Crown Performance 5 piece SS brake line kit to install as well. Plus I'm sure I need the brake fluid changed.

I will add a follow up after the install in a few weeks.

Wow, my shipping was $13.00. All four rotors and four sets of pads.

Quoted me over $100 for shipping, but that was the kit with calipers in it too, plus you have to return ship for the cores (~$120 core charge I think).

I got all of my brake parts (Powerstop and Crown Performance SS brake lines) installed on the EX and they look great.

I figured I would update here since this is where I posted last time. I have a bunch more miles on several of these Callahan brake kits. I am 100% convinced they are Power Stop rebranded kits. The pads all have the power stop name and part numbers printed on them and the rotors are all identical, down to the stickers and packing.

My Excursion has a ton of off-road miles on them and they are awesome. My Mercedes now has about 15k miles on a set of these pads/rotors and they are amazing. The thing stops on a dime every time and it is not a small car. Dusting is minimal, even in Boston traffic. I drive my Excursion like an old lady but the Benz gets driven hard. Something about a sport mode button that I can't resist. I've since installed these on about 10 other cars, mostly of all different makes/models from Lexus and Subaru to Dodge Rams and my Excursion. Everyone has been extremely happy with them. Stopping power is hugely increased in all the vehicles.

I would agree. Since I had mine installed, I have not had any problems at all. They still even look like they are brand new.

I also agree that there is an extremely low amount of brake dust. I am used to having to wash off brake dust off n various vehicles, but since installing these I have not had to clean the wheels specifically because of dust.

Hey Folks!

I had decided on getting the Power Stop KC1906A-36 Z36 1-Click Truck and Tow Brake Kit (with Carbon-Ceramic Pads, Drilled and Slotted Rotors and Powder Coated Calipers, when I ran across this thread.

I went out and found this set from Callahan Break Parts.

Looking for opinions from some of you more knowledgeable guys? Should I stick with the Power Stop's or save the $200.00? I cannot decide. Help a brother out!
