Hi all. I have been looking around the web to see other photos of 1984 F150 Stepsides. My father gave me his ranch truck this weekend and I really want to fix it up. Here is what we have done so far:
changed the engine from the straight 6 to a 351 v8.
changed the granny shifter to an automatic
added dual exhausts
added RV Cam
for some reason, the catalytic converters were not put on, so I do believe I will be needing to put these on to make it legal.
I am wanting to raise it up about 6 inches and put some 30" tires under it and restore the body. There are only a couple of dings on the body so that should not be that hard. I also want to change the bench seat to bucketseats.
I will continue to read other people's posts for ideas, but if someone knows of any pics out there on the web of this truck model and maybe some customized ones, I would really appreciate the help.
You don't need ANY lift for 30" tires (that's just stock size); certainly not 6"! You can run 33s on a 4WD F-150 with no lift and only the slightest adjustment to the bumper.\
Another thing...currently, my dual exhaust does NOT have catalyic converters. Do I need to have them on there? Does the year model of the vehicle matter or is it the year of the engine that denotes requirement of the Catalytic Converters.
Check with your local vehicle inspection station or state police. Those laws vary by locale. Decent cats don't affect performance or reliability - only emissions.
