My chev truck days have maybe run their course, Morris won't let me park in his yard, the truck is lowered and it rides crappy....real crappy. So, I am thinking about switching back to a four door ford truck. Friend has a 09, four door with trailer tow package 4 wheel drive. Nice truck indeed
Not sure I need a 4 wheel drive, so I was on kijiji and there was a fx2 four door truck, 5.4. Any opinions ?
I had a couple 2wd trucks, now that I've had 4wd I wonder how and why people have 2wd's for year round driving. You're in La Ronge, I would have though 4wd would be an asset.
Either truck would be a suitable replacement for the Chevy. I always found that the GM trucks had a nicer ride than the others though, so I'm not sure what difference you will find there... The 5.4L was a great motor, had a 14-15 year span in production with very little for changes throughout its life... Good luck. I would vote for the 4wd if it was going to be a year round driver...
Is there a difference in fuel mileage from a 2 to 4 wheel drive. Traditionally there has been. Not hearing very high numbers from the 2009 owners of 4 wheel drive. Numbers of 18 on the highway, being babied maybe seeing 20 m/gal. What numbers would a real world ECO boost see ?
A friend of mine has an 2011 SC 4x4 Eco boost and he said he gets about 24mpg on the highway. My 06 CC 4x4 with the 5.4 could not get 17 on the highway and in the winter it only got 10 or 11.
nowadays 2wd to 4wd is maybe a 1-2mpg difference. I had an ecoboost that I wasn't that impressed with for mileage, best I got was 19, but have heard of guys getting much better than that. I would probably go to the 5.0L V8 if I were to go back to a F150 from 2011+... I think you can get them for a little less than the Ecoboost used, they are a little less new. I drove one, at first was dissapointed in the power compared to the Ecoboost, but once you get used to driving it, its actually a nice running truck. The power comes higher up in the RPM similar to all V8's, where the Ecoboost has gobs of power down low like a diesel.
My '08 F150 CC 4wd would get 18-21 on average, with a high of 24 on one trip back east with cruise set at 100km/h. I wish I had kept the truck.
