Ok guys I am new to this site but have heard a lot of positive things aboutit and the members. I recently changed the oil in my 2014 F-250 6.7L. I parkedthe truck on level ground and opened the hood. After letting the engine cooldown for about 1.5 hrs I checked the oil level on the dipstick. The oil levelwas Extremely high, it was approx. an inch higher than the top of the hatching.I then re-checked it a few times with the same results. Now curious about thisI go ahead and pull the plug to drain out the oil and pull the filter. I goinside and let the oil drain and drip for probably 45 min. When I return itisn't even dripping anymore, so I know at this point it has all drained out! Iput the plug back fill the new "motor craft" oil filter and install it.I then proceed to put 13 quarts as per the owner’s manual into the engine. This13 quarts includes what I put into the oil filter. Next I close everything up,and check the dipstick, which was still reading just as high as it did before Iperformed the oil change. So I started the engine and let it run for about 5min., shut it down and let it sit for about 20 min the checked the dipstickagain. It still shows about an inch above the top hatch marks...... If anyonecan give me some advice please do so. I even had another person come outside toverify that I only put 13 quarts total in my truck. I am currently waiting on areturn call from the dealship's service manager. Thanks guys!<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
Only thing I can tell you is I have a 2011 and I put in 13 qts everytime and oil level is correct.I dont prefill my filter but none the less I still put 13 in total.I cant imagine you are reading the stick wrong.Wrong length dipstick from ford?Idk
Personally I think the dip stick in the 6.7's sucks ****.. They are very tough to read in the first place.. Seems to come up all over the thing because all the corners it takes going in and coming out. Not a very distinctive line...

This is very true,It must take me 5 times dipping it to satisfy my brain that its full.
I believe I'd go to dealer and pull a dipstick from another truck and ck with it or measure both sticks lengths. Highly unlikely parts dept would have one to ck against.
Ford release a "BETTER" dip sick. It is easier to read but it still sucks. To get a good read on my truck I let it sit over night and check with the new dip stick. I think there has been 2 or 3 dip sticks for this truck.
I upgraded to the newer dipstick, which is recessed so the crosshatch doesn't drag on the tube on the way out. This makes it easier to read. The fluid level marking is at exactly the same point though.
