Hello, im new to the forum and theres a lot of good info here, also some funny stuff. Im looking for a new vehicle and decided on either an 06 Nav(05 depending on condition) or an 09 exp. The yr nav to me is beautiful truck but the exp has more features. Does anyone have experience driving these trucks, do they ride/handle alike? Does anyone know of any issues they may have? I know i gotta Test drive them to see, i just wanna gauge what you all are experiencing first. Also, ive read a lot of threads here but not many threads really explain the drive difference between 2nd and 3rd gen trucks. Thank you, any and all input id appreciated
The ride difference between a second and third gen Expy is big to me. Far improved, so far that after I got a 2010 for my wife last summer, I'm ditching my 04 for a 2012. I had originally planned to take it to 200k, but now at 100 it is out of here. Given the choice of those two, I'd take the 09.
I test drove an 08 el 120k on the odom...ride super smooth buy one thing that stuck out to me was the body felt somewhat more jittery than i should... Ive been in plenty of 2nd gen expos and the body never shuddered unless on the baddest of roads...is the buddy shudder normal
I have a 2nd gen navigator. I love it, things that i found common problems on it is the seat cushions up front crumble quick (about$400 each) next is the sketchy air ride. I bought my current one with the coil conversion. It doesnt feel as good as air ride but it is more reliable IMO.
I would like yo test an 05 nav next i figure they ride a bit better than the 04 since ford softened the springs for both the expo and nav after 05...if i do a sec gen it will def be a nav as the ride comfort amd interior design is better
