Mobil 1 On Sale

Pep Boys has Mobil 1 on sale for $38.99/5Qt jug next week. It seems like a pretty good price to me. It's oil change special including filter but I don't know if it's a filter that will fit our trucks.

I'm pretty sure the Mobil 1 for our trucks doesn't come in a 5 qt container, only 1 or 4 qts. The one that comes in 5 qt. containers isn't rated for diesels.

Not a good price around here. I've seen the regular price for the 1 gallon jug for $28, which would place the price at an equivalent of $7 per quart, which would make the 5 quart price $35.

There was a sale a few months ago where autozone misprinted an ad and mobil 1 5-40 was $13 a gallon...picked up quite a few gallons

Sounds like I need to look around more then. Had to get a couple of quarts and it was almost $13/Qt at the Pep boys.

Upon further examination Poop Boys price isn't all that bad if it includes a useable filter. $6/Qt x 5 Qts=$30.00 Then it would be nine for the filter. Compared to that NAPA price. And I refuse to even consider going into a WalMart.

going into a walmart might save you a few bucks, ive found that walmart and meijer almost always have the lowest prices on Oil, barring a sale or a special going on at an auto parts place

Some FTE brothers found Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck oil for $1.00 per quart. They drove around for hours, hitting every AutoZone store within a 100 mile radius, to stock up on as many 1 quart bottles as they could clear the shelves of. It happened over one weekend late last year, on what can only be assumed to be a pricing mistake from AutoZone. It wasn't just the flyer, the price was in their cash register computers as well.

The $1.00 a quart guys were few and far between, and weren't talking much until their area was depleted. The rest of us found gallons for $12.99... which is still a bargain relative to the prices mentioned in this thread. Since AutoZone printed the price on an ad, some of us were able to make use of Walmart's competitive cut throat practice of price matching any retailer's advertised price for the same item. Mobil 1 sold a LOT of synthetic diesel truck oil that weekend. A LOT.

OT...me and my buddy did the same thing with Biglots, but with "seadoo" compatable 2-stroke oil. Cleared every store from here to AZ....$2.00 qt, and run'n a seadoo rental service, it saved A TON.

Back to program...with summer bang'n around the corner, is it necessary for you guys, still to run synthetic? I've got 2k more on my syn then in goes 15/40 at 9.87qt from WallyWorld...(delvac or delo)

From what I've read synthetic is better for our injectors, and really your not changing much from a 5/40 to a 15/40 the only difference would be at start up, once at operating temp the oils are the same weight.

I've heard a variety of reasons.... For some, it's the MIC stickers (Made in China) on most of their stuff. For others, it's the fact that the Walmart stores have been responsible for shutting down so many small Mom & Pop businesses.

For me and my family, we cannot afford to NOT shop at Walmart/Sam's... it's the place we love to hate and hate to love. Principles are one thing, and they are something I take very seriously and sometimes will spend more money to avoid supporting a company I do not appreciate, but real-world practicality has to sometimes take precedence, too.
