I got an 06 F-150 in 08 and within a year I was wishing I had gone SD. I tow a toy-hauler that when loaded is probably close to 9k. F-150 did okay, but was no rocket ship. I cracked two exhaust manifolds during that time. No other major issues, just always felt like work when my trailer was loaded.
Soooo, tomorrow looks to be the day when I get my new 2014 SD! I've spent the weekend looking at trucks and right now I've got two dealers vying hard for my business. Both have nearly identical trucks so I'm just trying to see which of them wants it bad enough. Right now I've got a bead on a fully loaded F-250 Lariat w/ FX-4 and ultimate package at $54,695, down from 62.1. I'll probably go with it at that price. One dealer has no Line-x in the truck and the other has no side-steps (wife requirement).
Can't wait to get it home and ready for my next desert trip!
Good luck on your purchase. Towing <10,000 lbs is going to feel like cruising the boulevard in a Cadillac compared to towing with a 150! Anything under 12,000 is pretty much business as usual for these trucks. My F350 seems very comfortable with 16,000 in tow.

Photos when the deed is done!
I know you are late in the game, ready to buy. My only advice to you is to look at F350 SRW too. Not much price difference(less than 1000). Reason being is a lot of guys complain about how much rear-end sag they get with an F250.

Just a consideration....
Good point, I looked at a couple of 350s, but I plan to put airbags on the 250 at some point. We'll see how bad the sag is once I get fully loaded. I have a compressor and bags on my F-150. I like having the compressor on-board, so I will do the same on the 250.
Thanks! I have to admit I'm a bit giddy inside! I've bought used trucks since 1995 when I bought my first (and only) new truck; a 95 S-10. I've had good trucks since, but never new... the wife has always gotten new, but not me. I'm very excited. I was lucky to have two dealers close by with nearly identical trucks to make comparisons on. I got a "final" offer via e-mail that puts one dealer about 1300 below the other. I'll take whatever discount I can get!

Yup. I was originally looking for a 250 Platinum but they happened to have a 350 Platinum on the lot so I asked what the price diff was between them and they said 650$ so I splurged and got the 350. Love it.
For the money and what your towing you should look hard at the 350.It will sag.Just search the forum you will find plenty of those complaints.Just my opinion.Your payment will prolly be 5 bucks more a month.Bags will help but you still wont have that extra helper spring the 350 comes with.
Here it is shortly before driving off the dealer lot. Yes, they did put the rear hub caps on!
I've only driven it a couple times since getting since I ride a motorcycle to work everyday. I'm loving every minute of it! I'm working on getting the miles on it before I take my first camping trip with it. I'm contemplating the Stablerides (sp?) over airbags for now. To be determined!
Awesome and congrats. You will love every minute of it. Towing with a diesel is so much better than towing with a gas truck. Like what was already said, the truck will barely care that a 9k lb toy hauler is behind it.
