wheel adapters

hey guys on my 68 I know that the bolt pattern is 5x5.5 but my question is I want to do the crown vic swap eventually but it is a little ways off and I want to get new wheels next but I don't want to get them twice has anyone on here run wheel adapters to go from the 5x5.5 down to 5x4.5?

wheel adapters work fine, but they are going to move the wheel out about an inch or 2 depending on the adapter. Just keep that in mind when you are selecting your back-spacing on the new wheels.
