I posted up a few weeks ago asking questions about Excursions and what to look for in buying one and took all the advice I got and went out and found one.
So, here she is. 2005 XLT 6.0 2x4.
And one more with my little budding photographer for size:
It's already got a few modifications and I'm working on building my list of "what to do to it". First thing is to get a baseline of performance and driveability for a week or two so I know what I can work with to "improve".
Super stoked about having it and what that means for road trips with the family.
Anyway, just introducing myself to the Excursion forums on here.
Yeah, we bought it from a dealership, so I'm sure they wanted it to look good all over. Give it 3 weeks driving up and down the dirt roads in my neighborhood and it wont be that clean ever again!
Looks great Bobbie! Beautiful truck. Can't wait to see what you do when the mod bug hits!
Wipe down that degas bottle really, really well and keep an eye on it. White residue is evidence of coolant (when it evaporates it leaves a white residue)
Could be from just overflow from filling/over filling, but it is also a good way to monitor the health of your egr cooler and head gaskets since when they go, they puke the coolant out of the degas bottle. The cap does fail often as well, might pick up a new one at the dealer just to be safe.
Welcome Bobbie!!! Glad you found the EX forum!!!! Still loving the cleanliness of your truck!!! You should take a picture 1 week later to see what it looks like then
NICE machine! Tires look new and a super clean interior too from the looks of it. You already have a real al charge air up pipe too, which is nice. That brake controller is also a top notch unit. It looks like your driver side battery is missing the heat shield that covers it and the ECU outboard of it. I don't know if it's a big deal. Just an observation.
Awesome looking truck! Congrats on the new to you Excursion!

That's the very first thing I noticed looking at the engine, lol!
Get yourself one of these to keep an eye on things:

Will do. I'll be putting a few miles on it between now and the weekend so I'll definitely keep an eye on it.

I bought my '05 a few months ago and between my AE and scangauge, I was able to properly diagnose the truck before purchase.
Yeah we bought a ScanGaugeII before we bought the truck and went through all the options with it before purchasing. It helped us to eliminate one truck we were looking at that was showing some issues in the ScanGauge.

Excellent!
Do some reading in the 6.0 forum and tech folder, it'll help give you an idea of things to look for, things to do, and in what order:
