Question keep edge?

Ok debate here keep the edge evolution flash tunner on the 01 with 156000 set at 60 over where its been all its life and since I bought the truck three months ago or remove it until I can afford my ts... Heard they eat up transmission any truth?

On a side note I'm adding a 26 row 6.0 cooler, in line t-stat, and a deisel site filter kit to the trans with its first fluid change since truck was made.

That depends on who you ask...NOT whether or not it's true. Some people just refuse to accept the truth about tuning.

Many folks don't care for Edge tuning around here. Cody has some inside knowledge because of some work for a guy who used to be an independent tuner who left and went corporate working for Edge writing their tunes.

Personally, I don't like the way the auto transmission shifts with one of the Edge products (don't remember which one), and I was unimpressed with the power that the same unit put out compared to other options. I've never heard them accused of tearing up a transmission though other than maybe from the simple part about adding anything over stock you run the risk of things starting to break.

Just wondering.

Let's put it this way:
The tuning on that is considered really good by others NOT running an Evolution. If you're happy with the way the vehicle runs with that, there's no reason to switch.

So its better then the other evolutions or its better then stock I mean the tranny shifts crisp under mid to hard acceleration but if its light throttle it shifts firm not really hard just firm and thats for up shifts and down shifts trans fluid is good and red and not burnt the truck has literally always lived its life in tow-60 since the previous owner bought it with 20000

I just read about edge products giving autos problems and that they arnt.... well the highest quality tune out there

You read about the Juice. It doesn't "tune" anything. The Evolution is a very good unit with decent tuning.

Thanks cleatus! I'm in my last year of college and can't afford a trans with a truck loan and givein more money away to cover my snap on addiction wasn't even planning on buyin the truck but a family friend had it and gave me a hell of a deal... My plans are after college get money put aside and pay bts a visit and then I can start adding a little power to it... But this puts my mind at ease

My 2002 F250 7.3L came w/a DP piggyback chip in it. Used it for several years w/o problems but, last year, the chip went bad -- fuel delivery problems caused the engine to die repeatedly -- and had to have the truck w/a 4000 lb p/u camper on it towed back home. Took it to the local diesel shop which quickly determined that the chip was the problem; took it out and the truck ran great again.

Threw the chip away but I'm missing the power boost that the chip provided, so am thinking about buying a programmer. Never really liked piggyback chips; prefer ECU flashes or hand operated programmers that allow you to load/unload a map and save your stock settings.

Have had good luck w/Superchips in the past with other vehicles. The SC Flashpaq 1841 is apparently the 2nd Gen version applicable to my truck. If you have any opinions (pro or con) on Superchips (or other programmers) before I buy one, let me know. Thanks!

I have an Edge Evolution and really like it. Can't remember the number on it right now, but the shift firmness and shift points are adjustable. You can add more fuel or less fuel. There are several things you can adjust to fine tune it. I routinely switch between stock, 60 tow and 80 race. Haven't tried 100 race. Transmission shifts great with it but my trans is not stock.

Swingshift, I ran a older Superchips programmer on a couple of my trucks and had good power in both modes. The thing I didn't like about it was that it had to be returned back to stock before I could switch beteen 60 and 80 hp. Still have it in my truck in the box. Been debating on whether to sell it or not.

I'm happy with my Edge Evolution. I love the monitoring including EGT's with it. Edge Products and Superchips are owned by the same company PowerTeq. I don't remember when they merged.

Looks like the Edge Evolution 15001 is the one for my 2002 F250. Does anyone who has one have a pic of the Edge Evolution pod installed in their truck?

Would also like to know what color the pod is from the factory, how is the pod attached to the dash, is it necessary to install the EGT probe and, if it's required, how difficult it is to install the probe?

Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!
