i have a c6 on my f350 6.9. the problem with it is when i put it in drive i have to rev the engine alot before it will go into drive. It will go right into reverse with no problem. Once it warms up it requires less reving before it will go into gear. Latly it seems to be geeting worse though. Anybody have any idea what is wrong.
Sounds like mine was doing, but it got worse. I could start the truck first thing in the morning and put it in drive and it would go, but if I let it warm up just a little had to rev it up. Got to the point where it had to rev about 3k rpm before it would then slip into gear. After that everything was good.
I just got a reman. tranny and swapped it out a couple of weeks ago, and have not had time to look at my old one to see what the problem was. Guessing either front pump or something with the forward gear set.
Mine does the same thing. It's been doing for about 5 years, but the tranny is still strong. I thought it was a pressure problem. Just a guess. Anyway, I've gotten by with it for a long time. I just make sure I am on the brake hard when I rev it up. Just trying to save a dime, if you need. 221,000 and no rebuild for me.
The forward piston inner seal will harden and wear a grove in the seal surface on the piston.
The C6 tranny is old or has high miles and needs an ovehaul, thats all, and those are cheap and easy to rebuild compared to the E4OD's.
Mine is on the work bench awaiting the money for a shift kit and a torque converter to finish it up.
