98 Ford F150 Problem.Maybe Coil packs??
It starts and idles absolutely fine but when i push the gas to fast(when in park) it bogs down. I just changed the fuel filter aslo...No change.
(2) If I floor it it Bogs then goes up to about 3000rpm (about halfway) and has trouble moving over that RPM or halfway. like theres a restriction of some sort.
(3) If I gradually push the gas, it will go up in rpms and i can get it to about 2000 rpms then I can tack the rpm gauge out if I wanted. but never do.
(4) Also when driving, it seems as if its lacking power..and just to add it does all this stuff while in gear also..
(5) When running It smells of an exhaust leak. but I cant find one. And I cant smell it in the cab.
So there it is. If I think of anything else, or do anything. I will keep posting. Thanks so much.
Is there any codes set?
A. When the throttle is operated the throttle position sensor has to tell the computer to do a number of things one of which is to add fuel depending on how fast the throttle position changes.
B. If the fuel pressure is getting very low there is not enough fuel to make power on. Check the pressure with a gauge. Could be the regulator or the fuel pump.
C. The Mass Air Meter also has input to the computer for fuel addition vs air flow.
D. The exhaust system blocked, strangles the motor from passing exhaust out. May be the smell. A back pressure check could be made but seems both sides would have to be blocked for your level of power loss unless it is from the muffler back where the two banks come together. Tail pipe bent shut etc.
.
Most of these should cause code to set so must be checked out until you find the issue.
Use of a scanner to look at live data should show the effects of and possibly the cause of the issue.
Live data for the TPS signal, the mass air output signal, the fuel trims tables for both short and long term, oxygen sensor activity etc.
This may be more than your prepared to do but sometimes it's why you need to go to the doctor for help.
Good luck.

The computer Just had to run a full cycle after I had the battery disconnected for a couple days. and the truck is running much better...
(I forgot that I had done that to change the fuel filter and didn't mention it in the original post..(SORRY)....I also done a complete SEAFOAM. Throttle body, Vac lines, and gas..
1) So now on to the problems...So the exhaust smell is still there, and the power issue is...(read below)
when I give it gas it still feels a little sluggish but I can still feel that is has power, just something seems to be restricting it..(If that makes since)
2)BREAKS- When I am driving and coming to a stop there is a (thump) feels like from the front.... And the break kind of comes up a little...
(So you can feel the thump in the break also).. and not just only hear it...
Im thinking maybe air in the break lines?? (also this don't happen at every stop....
when I push the breaks the first time without pumping them the break peddle goes all the way to the floor... is this because its not ABS??..
