After test driving a 2003 Ford F350 with a 7.3 diesel, I've been looking for an affordable one. Man did that thing have *****
I'm looking to purchase a 2000 with same engine but I'm concerned about emissions test. As usual, the seller isn't selling certified or etested. The new regulations doesn't involve tail pipe test but instead uses the OBDII connector and checks for code errors. I happen to have one of these readers but I'm not sure what or if I can check for these same errors. My thinking is check to make sure there aren't any errors and that it has completed all it's checks....as in the battery wasn't recently disconnected or any errors cleared.
Any one have issues with emissions on the 7.3 diesel? I'm going to check to see if this truck was manufactured without a catalytic converter as stated by a tag in the engine bay near the latch but that doesn't really mean anything with the new system.
