ive been trying to get this truck to idle right sense I bought it and it acts different every day so I took the carb off to make sure it was clean and not only is it dirty as hell it looks like it blew up inside!!!! look at all the cracks. what happened?
I just bought it a few month ago and it ran ok but always had an idle and dead spot problem. and here I am with a carb that's trashed inside and somehow the truck still ran. im not seeing the summit 3310 carb. but I do need a new card and don't want to spend a ton.
Looks like a typical Holley to me ! Take one out of the box , thrown it in the trash . Waste some money , save the headache of tinkering with it daily !
I've seen carbs a lot dirtier than that working. Overall failure like that, I suspect it was left in carb boil too long at last overhaul. But only a theory.
DO NOT BUY ANY CARBURETOR WITH THE SILVER FINISH. Edelbrocks are just as bad. Gasoline EATS the silver finish off the carburetor. The gold carbs work fine forever. Buy the same Holley with the original gold finish and it'll be fine.
Looking at the pics again , new carb ? What are the deposits , sand , sugar , sugar sand ? Strange for a " new " carb . Do not care for holley carbs , but , the deposits make me wonder .
I wonder if someone had beat on the carb as if it had a stuck float in the past. I know that's pretty common for people to use a screwdriver handle/hammer to try to unstick a float.
