Souce for polyurethane sway (stabilizer) bar bushings for 2004?

OK, as is often the case in a forum that covers several years of vehicles, there are many threads about funny clunk/rattle noises that were only solved after replacement of the sway bar bushings (where they bolt to the frame).

Sounds like many of the posters also favor the harder polyurethane bushings.

Energy Suspension and Moog are listed as good sources in a number of threads, but alas, no one with 2004 and up (05, 06) has ever mentioned a source for them.

Now -- I *thought* that in 2004 the F150 and the Expedition basically shared the same front end, at least generally. The ride height of the Expy was a little different due to coil spring height, but LOTS of other parts are the same.

But, Energy Suspension lists sway bar bushings for a 2004 F150, but has no bushings for any Expedition after 2001 listed.....

I find NOTHING at AdvanceAuto, O'reillys, RockAuto, or Amazon. Summit and JEGS equally are strike outs.

Does anyone know -- must I really go with the old Ford rubber OEM units, or is it possible that the F150 units would work?

Sources????

Why not just get the OEM ones from the dealer? The last set lasted 12 years, right?

The F-150 are likely different because the diameter of the sway bar is different.

Energy suspension has a detailed parts listing for all their bushings on their website. Although this will require a bit of measuring, you can look up the bushings based on the size rather than the application. Once you determine the part number, shop around for the best price. It would make a nice conclusion to this thread if you are able to post a part number on here for the rest of us. to reference.

Could be. The F150 shares much in 2004 with the Expedition, yet parts places are always having trouble with the Expy. The Expy had the air suspension which made a bunch of suspension components different from the F150. But it varied, depending on package. And the F150 has a slightly different ride height and stance from the Expy as well. Consequently, parts that actually might fit are listed as not fitting. Sometimes....

As for 12 years. Hmmm Its 2013 and its a 2004. That's 10 years worst case scenario. OK, not too bad.

But what you don't know is that this stupid knock/rattle after bumps was present when I bought the Expy in 2010 with 160k miles. 6 years. I suspect its more related to mile than years......

Now, you are right that its doubtful that I would wear out another set of OEMs, but hey, its OK to dream. You yourself (alloro) were looking for polyurethane bushings a few years ago -- saw your name on a couple of the threads......

I figured we were almost into 2014 and the vehicle was likely built in 2003 and the bushings made even before that so I just threw 12 years out there as a loose figure. I would've been more exact if I knew I was going to get called on the carpet for it.

I never got the poly bushings, I ended up coming to my senses and getting the OEM ones for the very reason I suggested them to you.

Have you tried E-bay? I just picked up some Moog sway bar bushings for my f250 from E-bay.

Expedition and F250 do not share the same platform. Expy and F150 share a lot of parts, but not all.

I measured my Expy (2004) sway/stabilizer bar today and found it to be 34mm, same as a 4x4 F150 in 2004.

Energy suspension does have sway bar bushings for 2004 F150, also listed as 34mm, but not for the 2004 Expy. Why, I do not know.

I've seen a variety of Moog stuff listed for the 2004 Expy, but there is so much misinformation on various seller web sites that I have basically decided as Alloro suggests, to just buy Ford parts and be done. The Expy was a strange beast in 2004 with air suspension on some models, independent rear suspension etc... Parts places seem to be really challenged to know what fits an Expy and what doesn't.... Perhaps I will change my mind when the local dealer quotes the price....
