So I'd like to put a FM70 on my Ex this weekend. I have a Summit Racing up the street and they have one in stock that will work for the Ex. Is this something someone with a set of tools and barely any experience can do? Is it just a matter of undoing the clamps and swapping the muffler out?
It's still got the factory exhaust on it so it sounds like I'll need to get it cut at a shop. Frankly I might as well have them just put the new one one too.
When I installed my MBRP exhaust I also purchased the cat delete and muff delete pipes. Although the cat has a flange gasket at the front I use band clamps for everything else and swap them (the delete pipes) out on a regular basis. So band clamps make for easy swaps.
So the initial job sucks, rust, and subsequent jobs are easy, band clamps.
I have a shop that's going to install a FM70 (I already purchased) tomorrow for $100 - does that sound fair? Should I pick up a tip and does it make any difference in sound? Does that seem fair and will there be any bending of pipe or anything?
The guy at the shop was surpised I went with the 70 as he recommends the 50 on there and said it still wouldn't be bad on the highway. Anyone in here have a 50 on their Ex?
Fortunately Summit Racing has a warehouse a few miles from me so I can go get a 50 easily for the same price as Amazon.
No muffler for me. Gibson headers with stock converter and duals out the sides behind the rear tires.
I know get better gas mileage and it has a deeper sound.
Mind telling us what parts you used specifically? I couldn't find a cat delete for the excursion V10. It's not too loud with headers. no cat and no muffler? I don't mind "loud" but i though gas (non turboed) engines roared with open exhausts?
