well my 6.0 is a sick.0 for now, sucks i just bought it.. Noticed a slight might hesitation when tranny shifted into OD, Changed the oil and it was pretty much fuel that looked like oil. the miss is now much worse and is noticeable at idle. I am going to pull covers and inspect injectors for the culprit. Do any of you have suggestions on the best way to tackle this and best place to purchase the o-ring kit?
I am Praying that its an injector, and thinking that bad rings or melted piston would have been more problematic and not just show up like this did. I could be wrong, it does have 176K, what worries me is that the miss got progressively worse in a day, to the point that it misses at idle now. not even sure how to tackle this, guess I should pull valve covers....at least from there i can do leak down tests if i cant find bad injector
yea i was having same problem but once i put fresh oil it runs great. My oil dilutuion is slower than yours. I didnt know how to find a leaking injector so I replaced passenger side injectors and if the problem is still there Im going to replace the driver side hopefully that will solve it.
Damn, you just bought that truck. Your first post was yesterday. Man, that really sucks.
tell me about it, I sold my 7.3 just before I met my wife 6 years ago....and have been cryin about getting another diesel since, finally got the kitchen pass to buy one about 6 months ago. I have looked at hundreds of trucks and looked this one over with a fine tooth comb; though t for sure I found the "ONE" and here I am. Wife hasn't said a word yet...........but it's coming

Everyone told me NOT to purchase a 6.0. Every person I talked to, except the people who took good care of their 6.0's. They all still love them. So I weight the pros and cons and decided not to pass on the one I found. Bought it for rough trade in value so I had my fingers crossed. I was nervous because I am a completely new to Diesels. Never owned one. I've been lucky so far. 2000 miles and 18.9 mpg still bracing myself.
Thanks 99ExpyProblems that is helpful, what scan gauge allows me to command the fuel pump to run?
Sorry, like I said, I'm new to diesels, I've just been absorbing this stuff to no end. All my free time is devoted to reading and trying to understand this truck. I just found that video in a google search and actually noticed that another guy had the same problem on another forum. He had lots of help, but it looks promising. Check the link.
