Hey. My name is John. I just bought a '74 Ford 4x4 that is in pretty rough shape. Haven't picked it up or even seen it in person yet but it was cheap enough that I think I won't get hurt even if I wind up just parting it out. It supposedly has been upgraded to a 390 and has the 4 speed manual transmission. Engine is supposedly rebuilt just never re-installed all the way. We'll see I guess. Anyway, I do a lot of my own wrenching and build my own engines but the only language I speak fluently is Small Block Chevy with a little AMC knowledge thrown in. I am probably going to need a bunch of help from you guys and may ask some pretty dumb questions in my quest for Blue Oval mastery. Thanks in advance.
Thanks guys. Plans are to get it running first, then to straighten out some of the dings and little rust spots. Going to present it to my father to use to haul firewood out of his surrounding woods. Probably wait until I get it running and see the condition of the frame before I start a build thread. Don't want to build up anybody's hopes for nothing. My family has never had much luck with Ford products, so this is going out on a limb for us. I will admit that if this was a '74 Chevy sitting there, the rust would be much worse though.
