Drivers Side Electric Mirror Issue
This goes on for a week or so and I'm beginning to get a little annoyed, but not to the point of looking into it further. I get in every morning, adjust it when I realize it is too far out, and go on about my day. I'm in and out of the truck a number of times each day, so it has to be adjusted most every time I get in. Then the other day, as I approached the drivers side, I clicked the key fob to unlock the truck. I had my hands full and must not have pressed the button hard enough. So, realizing that it wasn't unlocked, I pressed the key fob to unlock it. When I did, I heard some clicking noise, but couldn't pinpoint where it was coming from. Whatever it was clicker four or five times, and that was it. Once in the truck, I drive off and must adjust the mirror once I realized it was out of whack again.
So now, I'm bugged. I've gone about a month, constantly having to adjust the mirror once I'm in and going. I went to get something out of the truck in the driveway and as I approached, I pressed the button on the key fob and heard the clicking noise again. As fate would have it, I happen to be looking directly at the rogue mirror. The mirror was moving outward when I clicked on the key fob! I got what I needed out, shut the door and pressed the key fob button to lock it up. No clicking this time. For kicks and giggles, I unlocked it. Sure enough, the mirror moved outward again, and again I heard the clicking noise.
Before you ask, no I haven't tried to see if I can replicate the issue by unlocking it with the power button on the arm rest, yet. I have stood back away from the truck and clicked the fob to open it, and it did do the mystery mirror movement again.
It is a '09 Lariat Package, 4x4 SCREW. I've never had a moments trouble out of it other than this. Past experience tells me that once an electrical problem rears its ugly head, typically it isn't long before another one pops up.
Anyone had this happen? If so, how did you go about getting it fixed? I know the mirror assembly is terribly expensive to replace, but it can't be much to fix.
Opinions appreciated. Questions will be answered, but mainly just looking to see if there is a quick fix before taking it to the dealership.
This sounds like a good puzzle for your dealership to solve. If you can't find a quick DIY fix, swing by your dealer and they'll be happy to take a look. I can check out some ways to help as well; send me a PM with your VIN, dealer, mileage, daytime phone number, and full name.
Thanks!
