Getting a V8 to run...
I have this '47 P/U that I have been working on the body. I bought a complete front end, fenders, hood, grille, etc...but now I need to get it running so I can verify the condition of the engine. I have read several posts on this but my problem is that they all seem to take it for granted the wiring is in good condition. Mine is not. It still has the original cloth covered wiring in really bad shape, cracked, broken & missing. It still has the original ignition switch on the column with the key stuck in it and no wiring. It also has another ignition switch with no key or wiring. I have intentions of replacing all the wiring, with a kit, and converting to 12 volts. Electrical is not my strong suit so as much detail as possible would be appraciated. I don't want to burn this thing down.....any help would be appreciated...

The best thing to do would be to buy a complete wiring harness. The one I bought has a very detailed schematic showing where every wire goes. The wires are color coded as if was from factory. Got mine from MAC's auto parts for about 150.
